Hyundai has unveiled its new i30.
Bigger and roomier than its predecessors, this third-generation of Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s (HMCA) most popular model is also one of the most technologically advanced offering a comprehensive suite of features that the company says further establishes the i30’s reputation as an affordable, premium quality small car.
Standard features range-wide now include even easier access to powerful communications, satellite-navigation and entertainment options via i30’s range-wide 8-inch, multimedia display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, including steering wheel-operated voice control. There is also access to clearer-sounding DAB+ digital radio.
The five-tier i30 range starts with the entry-level Active and runs through Elite, Premium, SR and SR Premium variants. For the first time, alloy wheels are now standard across the i30 range, with 16- and 17-inch wheels on comfort variants (Active, Elite and Premium) and 18-inch wheels on sports variants (SR and SR Premium).
Engine and transmission choices start with the i30 Active’s standard 120kW/203Nm Nu 2.0-litre GDi (Gasoline Direct Injection) petrol four-cylinder with either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
Also available in the i30 Active, Elite and Premium variants is Hyundai’s U-II 1.6-litre CRDi (Common Rail Diesel Injection) diesel engine mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) or six-speed manual (Active variant only).
Available exclusively in i30 SR sports variants Hyundai’s 150kW/265Nm Gamma 1.6-litre Turbo-GDi petrol engine comes with a 7-speed DCT or six-speed manual.
Hyundai says the new i30’s on-road dynamics also have been exhaustively tested and optimised for local conditions and driver preferences by Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s highly credentialed Chassis Development Team.
“i30 has been a six-time Australia’s Best Car winner for good reason,” says HMCA Chief Operating Officer Scott Grant. “It’s also been a hugely successful model for Hyundai Motor Company Australia, and I confidently predict this handsome and even-better third-generation i30 will continue that success.
“The new i30’s incredible overall sophistication and fantastic technology platform will further enhance our best-selling model in Australia. And our industry-leading after-sales iCare customer care program, legendary 5-year/unlimited km warranty and Lifetime Service Plan all make it even more attractive.”
