Hyundai’s i30 is Australia’s best-selling car for a third month in a row. The i30 again topped overall passenger car sales in May, while claiming market segment leadership in Australia’s thriving small-car class.
Hyundai’s 9,005 overall May sales were up 8.9 percent over the same period last year. Year-to-day sales of 42,050 units place Hyundai third overall, up 7.6 percent compared to 2015.
According to VFACTS industry data, Hyundai topped two Australian market segments in May; Light Cars (Accent: 1,252 sales) and Small Cars (combined i30 and Elantra: 4,050 sales).
Hyundai also sold well in three other segments, the hotly-contested SUV Medium (Tucson: 1643 sales), People Movers (iMax: 180 sales) and Vans/CC 2.5-3.5t (iLoad: 572 sales).
“This is a strong result as we move forward into June, the biggest month of the year,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Operating Officer, Scott Grant. “Hyundai vehicles combine desirability and drivability with industry-leading value for money, great levels of equipment, safety and technology – together with an unbeatable after-sales program.”
