The Genesis brand has officially launched its luxury G70 sedan at the Hyundai Genesis Design Centre in South Korea.
The G70 offers high levels of advanced driver assist systems such as Highway Driving Assist (HDA); best-in-class safety with nine standard airbags and active hood function; a high level of connectivity with server-based voice recognition technology, using Kakao’s artificial intelligence platform; and three different powertrains – a 2.0 litre turbo petrol, 2.2 litre diesel and a 3.3 litre V6 twin-turbo petrol boasting an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.7 seconds.
“The Genesis G70 is the latest demonstration of our dedication to delivering innovative, customer-oriented vehicles,” said Dr. Woong-Chul Yang, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group.
“We will continue to focus our R&D efforts on the development and expansion of the Genesis brand. It is a great point of pride to have Genesis showcase what a true luxury brand of Korean origin can present to our customers.”
Initially, Genesis launched its flagship G90 sedan in December 2015 and large G80 sedan in July 2016 in Korea. Since the brand’s inception, Genesis has made significant strides, selling more than 150,000 units to date with strong performance in both the Korean and U.S. markets.
The G70 marks the completion of Genesis sedan line-up and the brand says it will now start strengthening its model range with the introduction of SUVs, and potentially alternative powertrains. Genesis plans to roll out new products to expand its presence and coverage across the global market, and by 2021 six models are expected to feature in its product portfolio.
The G70 is set to go on sale on 20th September in the Korean market.
