Mercedes have a knack for making beautiful concept cars but now and again they can outdo even themselves and reveal something jaw-droppingly stunning. So it is with the Maybach 6, a humongous beast of a thing with some of the most beautiful lines ever to grace an automobile.
A truly sensational luxury coupe, the Maybach looks like a hybrid of modern and retro styling with its enormously long front-end, gullwing doors and ‘boat tail’ rear. It measures six metres in length, is designed as an all-electric vehicle with a drive system that produces 750hp and has a range, the company claims, of more than 500kms.
Power comes from four electric motors at each wheel and the battery system allows for performance figures of 0-100km/h in under four seconds and a top speed of 250km/h.
Inside, the Maybach is chock full of state-of-the-art digital features - the front windscreen, for example, serves as a transparent display with driving-related data, and other info, shown across its full width.
Of course, the enormously long hood would normally hide an incredibly big and powerful engine, but in the all-electric Maybach’s case, this is all for show – there’s clearly plenty of space for your luggage . . . and your golf clubs.
