Bridgestone has launched the Ecopia H/L 001 low-rolling resistance tyre for SUVs.
The company says the tyre has been engineered to meet changing customer expectations driven by the exponential rise in SUVs on the road, delivering long wear life, handling and braking performance improvements and fuel saving capabilities.
“There is no denying the rise of SUVs in Australia, and we are committed to ensuring we have the right products to suit the needs of Australian motorists, today and into the future. The introduction of the new H/L 001 is part of delivering on our commitment,” said Bridgestone Australia’s Sales Director, Heath Barclay.
“Last year, SUVs accounted for just under half a million new car sales in Australia and, as it stands, they are on track to outsell hatches and sedans in 2019. That’s why the Ecopia H/L 001 is such a timely new product.”
Bridgestone says it has focused on handling, braking characteristics, and wear life characteristics in the development of the H/L 001, complementing the fuel saving capabilities carried over in the evolution of its predecessor, the EP850.
The improved tread design maximises H/L 001’s contact patch with the road through its crown shape, while the rounded rib edges and chamfering sipes improve braking performance – especially in the wet.
During development testing, the Ecopia H/L 001 recorded a 12 per cent shorter braking distance in the wet compared to the EP850, with the results of testing also showing improvements in noise and comfort levels, dry braking and handling, as well as significant advancements in wear life and in wet braking and handling.
Ecopia H/L 001 was extensively tested in Australia as part of its development and is available in 25 sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches. Bridgestone says it is available through Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centre stores, as well as other reputable tyre retailers.
